Glenn Close Gets Close To The Crime Scene, Joins 'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery'
Could she be the (Nova) Prime suspect? The list is growing
If this casting doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will. The roster for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery has grown for the fifth time in under 48 hours, with Glenn Close reported to be next for the third installment of the murder mystery movies from writer director Rian Johnson.
The eight-time Academy Award nominee joins Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott and Kerry Washington under the purview of Daniel Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc. Washington had only just been reported hours before. Production starts in early June (reportedly a specific June 10) for a 2025 release on Netflix. Again, character details, as well as for the specific murder mystery circumstances destined to occur, are nonexistent, but Close, known for films such as The World According to Garp, The Natural, The Big Chill, Fatal Attraction and the pair of live action 101 Dalmatians films as Cruella de Vil, definitely has the demographical coverage that Jamie Lee Curtis had for the original Knives Out but was lacking in Glass Onion that may inform the character.
The voice of Homer’s absentee and later deceased hippie mother Mona Simpson in 11 episodes over 25 years of The Simpsons, the three-time Tony winner has two other films in post-production that will be Netflix exclusives: Lee Daniels’s supernatural horror thriller The Deliverance and the action comedy Back in Action, which is not only Cameron Diaz’s first film in a decade but reunites her with Annie remake co-star Jamie Foxx. She recently starred in the streamer’s Heart of Stone with Gal Gadot, and executive producer Disney’s live action Cruella prequel, with her most recent successful awards circuit being for 2020’s Hillbilly Elegy.
