'Goosebumps' Scares Up Season 2 Main Cast Led By David Schwimmer And Ana Ortiz
The 'Friends' and 'Ugly Betty' alums are among 7 series regulars cast for the anthology’s new season
Say cheese and dial up the stars, they’ll be there for you. With Disney+’s Goosebumps series going to a seasonal anthology format, it means every season starts with a fresh cast. Just six weeks after renewal announcement at the Winter TCAs, the new cast is all ready to go. Friends star David Schwimmer and Ugly Betty alum Ana Ortiz headline the seven series regulars that will star on the upcoming season.
The new season sees “teenage siblings who discover a threat within their home, setting off a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo finds themselves entangled in the story of five teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.” Schwimmer will play Anthony, a former botany professor and divorced parent of teenage twins whose custody agreement must not have been the best if he’s having his kids for the summer, it certainly sounds like a “none of the time to all the time” situation. He’s juggling that with being his aging parent’s caretaker, it’s described as “tumultuous”. The twins are fraternal, named Devin and Cece, and played by Dead to Me’s Sam McCarthy and Side Hustle and Group Chat’s Jayden Bartels.
Ortiz meanwhile will play Jen, a hardworking police detective who has stayed in her Brooklyn neighborhood after experiencing a tragic event as a teenager with her friends. Elijah Cooper, who has appeared as Cobo in season 2 of That Girl Lay Lay plays CJ; Galilea La Salvia as Frankie, and Francesca Noel as Alex. It’s not confirmed if any of them are among the described disappearing teenagers of 1994.
In addition to his ten-season run as Ross Geller on Friends, Schwimmer is also known for playing Robert Kardashian in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Both roles earned him Emmy nominations. He is also known as the voice of the giraffe Melman in the Madagascar films and other materials and starred in the British series Intelligence created by and starring Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed. After Ugly Betty, Ortiz’s subsequent series regular roles included Devious Maids and Love, Victor, and appeared in Monster High 2.
The Muppets and Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie director Nicholas Stoller and 2015 Goosebumps movie and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu director Rob Letterman developed the series and serve as executive producers with showrunner Hilary Winston, Neal H. Moritz, Iole Lucchese, Pavun Shetty, Conor Welch, Caitlin Friedman, Erin O’Malley and Kevin Murphy. James Eagan and Nick Adams serve as co-executive producers. The series is from Disney Branded Television and produced by Sony Pictures Television, adapting R.L. Stine’s children’s horror novels with Scholastic.
