James Gunn Marks A Year Until 'Superman' With Brightest Look At The Logo
Okay I think I understand. They mean the hero’s logo and not necessarily the film’s
Thursday was July 11, 2024. That means we are now less than a year away until the new DC Universe properly kicks off with the release of Superman and introduces the newest iteration of the Man of Steel on July 11, 2025. As filming continues with David Corenswet in Cleveland, one knew the milestone was going to be acknowledged. After all, DC Studios co-CEO and Superman writer-director James Gunn had already marked the anniversary of the slate reveal, Superman’s birthday, and Superman Day with special posts, along with other debut anniversaries of the characters he’s used and using in his works. And indeed, the director came through, unveiling the cleanest, brightest rendering of this Superman’s logo we’ve seen yet.
Gunn posted to his socials the render with the caption “In exactly one year #Superman opens all over the world.” Of course, it’s not the first time we’ve seen what the design would be, starting on February 29 with a detailed close-up on the logo’s place on the suit. In comparison to what’s to come, that looked like it had the palette of Henry Cavill’s DCEU iteration’s suit, but that might just be lighting. The professionally shot first image of Corenswet in the suit saw the logo dirtied up with plenty of wear. It was also a night-set shot. Filming in Cleveland, which began in the last week of June gave full on looks at the suit in broad daylight, unimpeded, as well as in a different style on the outside of his cape. But this render definitely allows it to shine.
The film will see Superman try to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human Clark Kent upbringing. In addition to Corenswet, Superman will star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Wendell Pierce as Perry White leading a Daily Planet roster that includes Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover (whose birthday is today) as Cat Grant and Christopher MacDonald as Ron Troupe. Additional heroes include Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho aka Rex Mason. There’s also Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Neva Howell and Pruitt Taylor Vince home in Smallville as Ma and Pa Martha and Jonathan Kent, María Gabriela De Faría as Angela Spica, The Engineer, Terence Rosemore as Otis, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher with Milly Alcock likelier and likelier to debut as Supergirl here.
