'The Marvels' Sets Disney+ Premiere Date
Relive the memories of cats swallowing people in your very own home!
Don’t you tell me to drop. The Marvels won’t be sealed off from the world of Disney+ for too much longer. The third and final Marvel Studios film released in 2023, starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, will arrive on the streamer on Wednesday, February 7.
The Nia DaCosta-directed Captain Marvel sequel and follow-up to the Disney+ Ms. Marvel series was originally released in theaters on November 10, 2023, which ended up being the very end of the SAG-AFTRA strike which left the cast unable to do any new public promotional appearances beyond what they had already recorded. With a February 7 Disney+ arrival, it meets the standard 90-day window that Disney has settled into and most of their films of 2023 have been meeting. The major outliers have been the 68 days of Haunted Mansion and the 155 days for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The Little Mermaid only had a two weeks-longer wait than this new standard at 104 days. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, released the same Friday in November 2022, was released on Disney+ on the first Wednesday of February last year, which was February 1.
The film saw Carol tend to an anomalous wormhole linked to Kree revolutionary Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton when her powers are entangled with her super-fan Kamala and estranged niece, astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, the trio must team up and work together to save the universe. It also stars Gary Lewis, Park Seo-Jun, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and sees Samuel L. Jackson return once again as Nick Fury. With a screenplay written by DaCosta, Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells, it is produced by Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos, Jonathan Schwartz and Matthew Jenkins were executive producers.
A date announcement trailer has also been released, and it’s been announced its Assembled documentary will arrive the same day.
