Jon Hamm Wants To Join The MCU And Kelsey Grammer Is Confident He’ll Be Back
Glazed Hamm and scrambled eggs are interested. Will Feige be calling?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the subject of a lot of inane discourse and a variety of targeted and unwarranted hitpieces lately. However the stars of Hollywood still find it a tantalizing draw, as they should.
For Jon Hamm, he’s ready to dive in. Doing press for his season of FX’s Fargo, he was asked if he would want to join the MCU, and he said this:
I don't know. Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade. I would love to. I've been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. I think there are tons of stories that I'm familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told.
Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not, I know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks that are ready to be a part of those stories. There are certainly a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told. Fantastic Four as well, [like] Doctor Doom. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?
If he were to get something in the X-Men world, it would be a successful second swing, as he was apparently in consideration to play Minister Sinister in a sequel to The New Mutants before Disney buying 20th Century Fox made clear that that path for X-Men movies would no longer be traveled. It’s unclear if he knew of these considerations however.
Meanwhile, one of the stars of the original film franchise, Kelsey Grammer, was most recently seen putting his fur back on as Dr. Hank McCoy, the X-Men’s Beast in the mid-credits scene for The Marvels. Though it utilized far more CGI this time, probably to cut out time in the makeup chair for such a brief scene, This multiversal variant was examining Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris after she closed a multiversal tear from that universe’s side. TheWrap asked the actor, who has a revival of Frasier currently running its first season back on Paramount+, if he would want to appear again in the MCU. His response was “It is my hope that you will [see him again]. I can say with a certain amount of confidence that you will. I would love to.”. He also stated he was “very pleased” by the response to the The Marvels appearance, saying that “a lot of people got in touch” with him after. “I’ve always wanted to play him again. I see him as an extraordinary character, a real character of gravitas and importance in our culture,” Grammer added. “I’m delighted Beast is back and hope he’s back in a real way.” The appearance was his first time back in the role since 2014’s Days of Future Past, with having returned after a similar gap to 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand.
It truly seems as if both these men have genuine interest and not just for what would very likely be large paychecks. They love the characters, and maybe it will work out for them. Hamm will also soon be seen in the Mean Girls musical movie, playing Coach Carr. It releases in theaters in January, just a few days after his new show Grimsburg premieres on Fox.
