‘Rick And Morty' Season 7 Gets Quick Landing Date On Max
Maybe the Max audience will figure out what’s up with Jerry. And find that new Evil Summer plot.
It was barely two days since Rick and Morty aired its season 7 finale on Adult Swim, and the network was that quickly ready to announce when it would be available to stream on Max.
With the help of Victor deMartrin’s Marble Music rendition of the theme song, the network announced that the season, consisting of ten episodes, will arrive on the streamer on January 22. So instead of landing five months after the season ends for both it and Hulu, as agreed to when the Warner streamer was originally under construction in October 2019 under its first name HBO Max, it seems the Max landing is now five weeks following the season finale. The Hulu landing date is not yet confirmed, but the 2019 agreement halved what had been 11-month waits for the first three seasons to arrive there. And yes, season 6 arrived on May 11, matching the five months exactly from its December 11 finale, so that was consistent. It's unknown how this quickening came to be.
Adult Swim Gives Sneak Peek At 'Rick And Morty: The Anime'
Sunday night saw Adult Swim air the season 7 finale of Rick and Morty “Fear No Mort”, and during it, they aired a sneak peek of the anime spin-off Rick and Morty: The Anime, which with only two weeks left in 2023 has been bumped to next year. Interestingly, it’s bookended with your typical Adult Swim bumps, opening with “And now, here’s a sneak peek of …
Season 7 of Rick and Morty saw a valiant attempt to get Mr. Poopy Butthole back in the right groove, Jerry and Rick get mixed up and closer than they’d ever been before, a brutal showdown with Evil Morty against Rick Prime, the unity of President Curtis and Dr. Wong, an influx of Total Recall Kuatos, the main duo’s day in court, the Pope being caught in a Poké Ball, a Denny’s fear hole and most of all, SPAGHETTI! Who wants Rick’s famous spaghetti? It’s to die for! Though admittedly it was a very sideline season for Beth. Oh well.
The end of season 7 marks a full season with Harry Belden and Ian Cardoni as Morty and Rick respectively, and there are still three seasons to go, with production resuming on season 9 with the actors’ and writers’ strikes over. The series also continues to star Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer. In addition, it was recently confirmed Rick and Morty: The Anime will be premiering before season 8, allowing Adult Swim’s audiences to be held over with more Rick and Morty adventures until the main show resumes and possibly keeps its late-in-the-year position. Being born in the current streaming landscape allows its next-day Max arrival setup, unlike the main show.
