'Deadpool & Wolverine' Come Together Like A Prayer In Official Trailer
Let’s fucking goooooooo to the lobby and get ourselves in multiversal quarrel
It’s been two months since Deadpool & Wolverine released its first trailer during Super Bowl LVIII, and with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes coming in just about a month, Disney was going to need something fresher to attach to it in its trailer package that wasn’t Inside Out 2. From a paltry theatrical release slate this year, might as well have it be the most anticipated. Thus, after a tease Sunday from Ryan Reynolds, he and Marvel Studios released the official trailer for the studio’s sole outing of the year Monday morning.
The teaser is grayscale, with a display of Logan’s death where he’s pinned to rubble. Deadpool does a slow walk as the audio of the plea from his time travel adventure stop to X-Men Origins: Wolverine at the end of Deadpool 2 plays. Other scenes from previous appearances play as it finishes with the snowy approach from the first trailer. It’s quite a bit for 40 seconds.
The trailer, set to Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” for the second half on what happens to be the song’s 35th anniversary, starts with Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, drowning his sorrows at the bar. When Deadpool picks him up, he’s having trouble bringing out the claws. Deadpool pulls out his gun…and Logan leans in. Cut to the 20th Century Fox wasteland, where the two have visible trouble working together. It turns out this Wolverine bears the guilt and burden of “letting down his entire world”. Deadpool gets claws to the balls, Wolverine gets bullets to the hips. Deadpool needles about the tragic backstory and he’s rebuffed with a “Go fuck yourself”. However they go into battle together and Wade is super wet about it…in some fashion. Fighting goons and each other, it gets to an SUV while Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova calls it “silly”, later seen controlling Wolverine’s movements. Something with Giant-Man’s helmet opens up. Dogpool kisses, cars and explosions close out the trailer with a cocaine talk with Leslie Uggams’s Blind Al. Let’s fucking go.
Deadpool & Wolverine also features Morena Baccarin, Stefan Kapičić, Karan Soni, Lewis Tan, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Rob Delaney returning as Vanessa, Dopinder, Shatterstar, Negasonic Warhead, Yukio, Colossus, and Peter, with Matthew Mcfadyen as Professor Paradox, and reprising X-Men characters from the Fox films like Aaron Stanford as fire mutant John Allerdyce aka Pyro as revealed in the teaser, and Lady Deathstrike, who was William Stryker’s bodyguard played by Kelly Hu and First Class Hellfire Club turned Brotherhood of Mutants member Azazel, played by Jason Flemyng, who were spotted in this trailer. The film is directed by Shawn Levy, with Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese writing the script along with The Marvels co-writer Zeb Wells. A previous draft was written by The Great North co-creators Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin. Kevin Feige boards as a producer alongside Levy and Reynolds. Reynolds’s upload of the trailer has already broken 10 million views in the 7 hours since it was posted, with 3.7 million views of Marvel Studios’s upload. It can be watched below.
