Peter Griffin Enters 'Fortnite' With Barely A Giggle
Ding Dong! It’s the Family Man! IS HE THE ONE WITH THE FISH?
It seems today that all you see are battle royales on consoles, and mobile licensees. But where are those shitty licensed video games on which we used to rely? Well Fortnite isn’t quite one of them, but it’s gathered quite the hive of non-video game-originating characters. Chapter 5, called Under Ground (even though it has nothing to do with subterranean gameplay) is continuing it by introducing Family Guy’s Peter Griffin to the game in the chapter’s first season.
However, he’s not quite heading in there as his default self. He’s ripped, as if he’s trying to get back into the Beautiful People’s Club, but of course for the type of game Fortnite is, he’s just trying to make himself a formidable opponent. Early Sunday, just days after the reveal trailer, a new Hybrid Short titled “Peter Griffin Seeks Fitness Advice from Meowscles” was released. The first three-quarters are animated in Family Guy’s style. While only about 30 seconds, it’s notably dialogueless, and as someone who’s never seen previous introductory shorts, if they’ve even made any, it came off as a bit awkward. After the one-time Quahog School Board President fails the physical administered by the game’s muscular feline humanoid, he expresses the desire to still get buff. Meowscles offers How to Get Swole In 30 Days, but Peter can’t commit. Not even to a 1-hour version. So instead he goes for expired Slurp, because, well, he’s used steroids on Joe and Stewie before so of course he’ll take the easy way. He’s quickly transformed into his shredded physique and jumps through the portal to the game’s world, revealing his propulsion as well as utilizing the Petercopter as his glider.
Now yours truly knows so little about Fortnite so whether there’s a moveset involved, it hasn’t been revealed yet if there is. But to get an idea of the type of character roster he’s entering, Griffin enters the game with Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid being introduced with him. There’s Rick Sanchez, Batman, Darth Vader, Ahsoka Tano, All-Might, Spider-Men Peter Parker and Miles Morales, Venom, Wolverine, Naruto Uzumaki, Bender Rodriguez, Johnny Lawrence, Goku, RoboCop, Thanos, Ash Williams, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and LeBron James. Frankly a bunch of these could be considered reunions as many of these characters spent time on Cartoon Network or Adult Swim during the many years Family Guy spent on the latter. But of course, Jesus’s best friend makes it into the game. Not a lot of “vile” female characters to blast though, to borrow an old catchphrase of Stewie’s.
I wouldn't have expected him to. Given the workaholic he is...
Sometimes, when a voice actor quits an animated show, the characters they play will suddenly no longer have dialogue when they appear after the quitting. It might be like that.
