Madness And Sketchy Backgrounds On The Airship For Final 'Among Us' Series Castings
'Mad TV' alums Phil LaMarr and Debra Wilson reunite for the animated series, with the latter crossing paths again with 'Baby Shark’s Big Show!'
One final band of crewmates has been announced for CBS Studios, Innersloth, and creator Owen Dennis’s Among Us animated series based on the popular video game. Prolific comedians and actors Patton Oswalt, Debra Wilson, Phil LaMarr, and Wayne Knight have all been sussed out.
Between the four of them there are hundreds of acting credits that would take way too long if to represent their wider career. Oswalt, most recently seen in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, voices White, the contest winner. His personality is practically a mantra: No trauma, no drama. His task is someone else’s responsibility, they’ll get to it instead, making his wealth his personality trait. It wouldn’t be shocking if his contest win was paid off. Former Mad TV castmates Wilson and LaMarr are voicing the ship’s cooks, Yellow and Brown respectively, best friends whose primary entrée is apparently pizza. Yellow is described as the indignant and opinionated prankster, while Brown is chill, supportive, and accountable. Knight voices Lime, the engineer that’s also a doomsday prepper and conspiracy theorist. Sounds very comic relief. While afraid of intimacy, his task is “getting stuff pretty much mostly fixed-ish”.
While listing LaMarr or Oswalt’s roles would probably take all day, Wilson’s voice acting career would probably be considered as “picking up” with her role in Black Dynamite. Her consistent presences include All Hail King Julien, Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart, Baby Shark’s Big Show!, Monster High, and becoming the second voice of Daisy Duck after Tress MacNeille left Mickey Mouse Funhouse. She’s also My Adventures with Superman’s Amanda Waller and already logged three first season episodes, so watch out for her role to grow there (hopefully). Knight, known for his sitcom roles on Seinfeld, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and The Exes and movie roles like Jurassic Park, Space Jam, Toy Story 2, and Tarzan, is very well known for his voice work, with main roles as Dojo on Xiaolin Showdown and Mr. Blik on the short-lived Catscratch. While he is Harley Quinn’s Penguin, the character hasn’t spoken since season 2. Lately he’s also been in the new Monster High and Urkel Saves Santa, which finally released late last year.
They join previously announced Randall Park as Red, Ashley Johnson as Purple, Yvette Nicole Brown as Orange, Elijah Wood as Green, Dan Stevens as Blue, Liv Hewson as Black and Baby Shark Kimiko Glenn as Cyan. Among Us’s official logline matches that of the game’s premise, stating “Members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the “Impostor” or fall victim to its murderous designs.” Titmouse is doing the animation for the series still without a home network. Along with Dennis, its other executive producers are Forest Willard, Marcus Bromander, and Carl Neisser of Innersloth, along with Titmouse’s Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina.
